Bowman Adds Sharif Abou-Sabh to Expand Company’s National Transportation Program Management Practice

January 4, 2024

We are pleased to announce the addition of Sharif Abou-Sabh, PE, as senior vice president and director of the Company’s expanding national transportation program management practice. Consistent with his prior experience, Mr. Abou-Sabh will be focused on securing large-scale program management assignments from state transportation authorities, principally in connection with funding substantially provided under the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (“IIJA”).

Nationally recognized for his ability to build client relationships and management of multi-billion-dollar projects, Sharif will play a pivotal role in advancing and expanding Bowman’s national transportation practice. Over the course of his distinguished career, Sharif has managed multiple large scale transportation projects for operators of highway, rail, airport and transit systems throughout the United States.

“Sharif’s joining Bowman is a huge win for us and will no doubt increase our reach within the community of transportation infrastructure owners and operators,” said Mike Hannemann, senior vice president of transportation engineering at Bowman. “His reputation is unparalleled in the transportation industry, particularly with respect to transportation program management. His experience managing multi-billion-dollar projects will immediately qualify Bowman as a program management candidate for large scale IIJA funded programs where transportation authorities need qualified engineering management assistance in the overall execution of these mega projects. We could not have found a more impactful addition for the long-term growth of our transportation practice.”

Most recently, Sharif directed the program management operation for phase II of the Valley Transportation Authority’s $12.1 billion BART Silicon Valley project, which includes a 5-mile 55 ft diameter tunnel under downtown San Jose, California.

“I’ve known and respected Bowman and their transportation practice leadership for many years,” said Sharif. “Bowman’s strong culture and commitment to growing their transportation practice through program management, along with their capacity to deliver on assignments, is what drew me to join the Company. I am eager to leverage my experience to advance our transportation initiatives and solidify Bowman’s reputation as an industry leader in delivering impactful program management services to large transportation authorities.”
