City of Boulder On-Call Energy Evaluation and Climate Action Plan Life Cycle Study

Boulder, CO

Municipal Building, Museum of Contemporary Art, Municipal Service Center and Rec Center

Bowman led a team that analyzed the possibility of reaching the city’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in supporting the shift to carbon neutrality, eco-districts and building resiliency that the City is embracing.

Work involved:

  • Facility MEP and envelope assessment and testing calibrated baseline energy modeling in eQUEST.

  • Evaluating a comprehensive set of Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) to reach net-zero energy.

  • Financial payback and Life Cycle Analysis

  • Comparison to several baselines including current codes (Boulder Energy Conservation Code).

Leading edge analysis included evaluation of CO2 heat pump technology, Ventacity energy recovery, plug-load reduction/budgeting which will define the buildings of the near future as well as more familiar efficient technologies such as solar, geothermal, variable flow refrigerant and LED lighting systems.
