Arizona State University Gammage Auditorium

Tempe, AZ

Arizona State University (ASU) is a public university located on five campuses across the Phoenix, Arizona, metropolitan area, along with a sixth campus at Lake Havasu City. ASU has the largest enrollment of any public university in the U.S.

ASU’s Gammage Auditorium is a 3,000-seat auditorium designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1964. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and, as the last publicly commissioned building designed by Wright, it is architecturally and culturally significant to Arizona.

In 2015, ASU engaged RSP Architects for the design and construction of two five-stop elevators and the addition of new restrooms. RSP engaged our team to provide code consulting and fire protection design services for the project.

Our specific services included performing an existing design review and site survey, developing the code narrative, performing an egress analysis of the entire building, performing a drawing review, developing a specification, creating fire alarm/fire sprinkler drawings, developing fire/life safety code variances, reviewing shop drawing submittals, and responding to RFIs from contractors.
