Our team of planners, engineers and architects are skilled at transforming recreational visions to reality by helping our clients work through complex land use regulations, environmental permitting and financial challenges.

From park master planning to construction management services, our teams have the experience to get projects completed on-time and on-budget. If our clients need help procuring grants to fund land acquisition and recreational development projects, Bowman can also provide expertise navigating that process. Additionally, with Bowman’s comprehensive in-house capabilities, we have the ability to design parks with minimal environmental impacts by implementing Low-Impact Development (LID) features, Best Management Practices (BMPs) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) methodologies.

Project Highlights

Chessie’s Trail: Lee District Park

Fairfax County, VA
Bowman provided planning, engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, and environmental consulting services within the 120-acre Lee District Park as part of the Family Recreation Area Spray Park and Accessible Tree House and Chessie Trail development. The accessible trails and tree house project had significant topographic and tree preservation challenges.

Lee District Park

Franconia, VA
Bowman provided landscape architecture, planning, engineering, surveying and environmental consulting services within the 120-acre Lee District Park which included the multi-phased development of the Family Recreation Area and Our Special Harbor Spray Park, Accessible Tree House, and Chessie’s Trail.

UT Tennis Center, UTGC Recreational Swim Center, and TWC Residential Casitas

Travis County, TX
This mixed-use project includes a tennis center with six indoor courts and four outdoor courts for University of Texas Athletics, a recreational swimming facility and concession building for The University of Texas Golf Club, and 20 residential “casitas” (condominiums). Bowman refined the land plan, designed the shared on-site and off-site infrastructure, and managed the site plan approval process.

Ruby Hill Park

Denver, CO
Ruby Hill Park serves as a major active recreational resource for southwest Denver as well as for surrounding communities. This 80-acre park was planned and designed in multiple phases, and Bowman served as the owner’s representative providing civil design services for Phases I and II.

Sports Complex at John Anson Ford Park

Bell Gardens, CA
The Bell Gardens Sports Complex is located at the John Anson Ford Park, a major regional park facility in the City of Bell Gardens. We were tasked with designing and managing the construction of the new sports facilities, which replaced an old park that was dilapidated and functionally outdated.

Los Altos Park Renovation

Albuquerqe, NM
Our team provided subsurface utility engineering, professional surveying, civil engineering, and UAV services to support the planning, design and construction of a major city park renovation to an approximately 40-acre existing public facility in Albuquerque, NM.

Frying Pan Farm Park

Farifax, VA
Frying Pan Farm Park is located in western Fairfax County and preserves and interprets a 1920’s through 1950’s farm, agricultural process, and rural community life. The farm serves as a landscape for educational, cultural and recreational enrichment for citizens and visitors of Fairfax County.

Downtown Beautification Project

Baldwin Park, CA
The scope of work included replacing existing streetlight and traffic signal infrastructure with new decorative infrastructure designed to identify and create visual points of interest that highlight and activate the Baldwin Park community.

Branch Brook Park and Yanticaw Park

Newark and Nutley, NJ
The softball field at Yanticaw park was an existing synthetic turf softball field with an all clay infield. Our task was to replace the clay infield with synthetic turf. Improvements included synthetic turf, stormwater system, and improvements to the existing scoreboard.
