Big Box Dam was constructed in the early 1970’s north of the Ray Mine to control flooding of downgradient mine facilities. After a large fire in 2021, three large storm events resulted in an inflow of sediment and debris, which filled Big Box Lake with sediment to 50% of the total height of the Dam. Bowman is providing construction management services that includes mechanical dredging of approximately 1M cubic yards of sediment, haulage, and disposition of dredged materials to a stockpile area 1.75 miles from the reservoir dam.
