University of Maryland Baltimore BioPark is an established biomedical park adjacent to University of Maryland Baltimore, a top-ten public institution. This project, known as 4MLK, is for the first of 2 new gateway buildings to be prominently located at the entrance of the research park. Our team is responsible for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design services for the first Gateway building, a 266,000 sq. ft. facility. The building is designed LEED Silver and exceeds ASHRAE 90.1-2010 by 20%.
Space planning includes Higher Ed level activities, admin support, classrooms, conference areas, maintenance, loading/receiving, and storage. The urban site constraints required all MEP to be located within the building footprint, including transformer vault and generator.
