Middlesex Regional Water System

Deltaville, VA

Bowman led the planning, design, permitting and construction phase services of a county-wide water system improvement for the Middlesex Water Authority (MWA). This project created a new regional water system in eastern Middlesex County to address the concern with poor quality shallow private wells in the area. Bowman identified and evaluated deep well sources for the supply of high-quality water and developed a complete water treatment, storage and distribution system to serve the county.

The system included the design of water mains in community streets and along transportation corridors. Water service lines and meters were also provided. Bowman developed the hydraulic analysis to size the water distribution system to meet all domestic water demands, commercial flows and varying fire flow requirements.

Bowman also assisted the authority in applying for and obtaining $12M in low interest financing and over $3M in grants for the design and construction of this project.
