A traffic study was prepared that included field reviews along the corridor to identify any vehicular and pedestrian conflicts. Crash data was also reviewed to identify any crash patterns. A spot speed study was conducted to determine the 85th percentile speed of vehicles along Cumberland Drive. Based on the report findings, a roundabout was recommended at the intersection of Cumberland Drive and Saratoga Road for traffic calming purposes.
Our team redesigned Cumberland Drive between Military Trail and Village Boulevard to accommodate one-way, separated bicycle lanes using vertical delineators. The project also included the design of a roundabout at the Saratoga Road intersection that accommodated separate bicycle and pedestrian crossing treatments. Efforts included agency coordination.
Design alternatives were prepared that ranged from signing and pavement marking only to median reconstruction. Typical section packages were prepared, as well as the roadway reconstruction plans.
