Rivanna Solar Facility

Charlottesville, VA

Our team supported the development of a 100-acre, 12.5 MW solar facility providing a full suite of civil, structural and environmental engineering services. The project was planned with a strong emphasis on environmental protection and regulatory compliance, particularly with respect to sensitive streams and wetland areas.

The design included grading and drainage solutions with VRRM-compliant stormwater controls, ensuring compliance with state standards while enhancing site sustainability. Our team also developed a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and implemented advanced erosion and sediment control measures, safeguarding adjacent waterways throughout construction and long-term operations.

Equipment was strategically positioned on elevated areas of the site, preserving the integrity of blue line streams and wetlands while maximizing solar energy production. Structural engineering services included the design of equipment pad foundations, supporting both durability and operational efficiency.

Through thoughtful site planning, integrated hydrology and civil design, and proactive permitting support, our team delivered a facility that advances renewable energy goals while maintaining a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and resiliency.
