Birdsong Phoenix, a net-zero apartment community in Phoenix, AZ earned an Award of Merit under the Residential/Hospitality category of ENR’s 2025 Southwest Best Projects. Bowman provided civil engineering services for the development, which is recognized as Phoenix’s first net-zero multifamily affordable housing community.
Designed to support long-term sustainability in a desert environment, the development features rooftop solar systems on each of its 12 residential buildings, generating enough energy to help achieve net-zero performance. Water-efficient xeriscaping and conservation measures further reduce resource consumption while supporting the project’s environmental goals.
Beyond its sustainability features, Birdsong Phoenix provides affordable housing alongside community-focused amenities, including a fitness center, clubhouse, community room, resident pool, playground and outdoor gathering spaces. The project demonstrates how housing developments can integrate environmental performance, resident services and neighborhood investment within a single community.
The ENR recognition highlights a project that advances sustainable housing solutions while expanding access to affordable housing in the Phoenix region.
