Deep in the woods of the Great Pee Dee River Heritage Preserve was a bridge that was on the verge of failure due to high water events, a build of debris, and age. Our team worked with SCDNR to design a solution that would solve many of the site’s issues. Our surveyors first provided a topographic survey of the site. Once complete, our engineers preserved the existing timber end bents by incorporating a concrete abutment and approach slab in the design. We eliminated the interior timber bent to provide a clear span and prevent the impact and accumulation of debris at the bridge.
The 60’ span bridge was estimated and SCDNR received funding to move forward with the project in 2018. Our team provided construction administration services by bidding the project, assisting SCDNR award the project and holding the preconstruction conference. Our construction management team provided inspection services and were onsite to ensure this project was built to spec.
