Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd. (Bowman), a Virginia-based award-winning engineering firm, announced today that it was awarded a 2015 Heavy Construction Contractors Association (HCCA) Safety Award in the Engineer/Surveyor category. Tom Workman, Safety Manager at Bowman, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
HCCA’s safety committee created an annual awards program to provide public recognition for the outstanding safety programs and recognize firms whose statistics show exemplary results over the past calendar year in a variety of categories. Bowman competed with similar firms of like size who worked over one million hours during the calendar year.
“Winning the award once is an honor for any company regardless of category or size, but Bowman clearly has a safety culture that is exemplary as they have won this award on an annual basis over a number of years. This is a wonderful accomplishment for the firm and an example for the industry to follow in the future,” said Ken Garrison, HCCA Executive Director.
The purpose of the competition among member firms for safety awards is to create a safer working environment for employees and the public at large.
“Bowman’s example in winning the award over multiple years clearly highlights the work environment that was envisioned when these awards were developed by the safety committee members,” continued Mr. Garrison.
