The Tom Workman Safety Distinction Award, established in 2020, honors employees whose commitment inspires others to embrace Bowman’s core value of safety and well-being. Named after Bowman’s first safety manager and a dedicated advocate for workplace safety, the award recognizes individuals who lead by example and strengthen our safety culture.
This year, Bowman proudly recognizes two recipients: Joe Gonzales, branch and office leader in Albuquerque, NM, and Frank Daniels, survey party chief in Richmond, VA.
Joe believes safety begins with accountability and awareness. “You have to be aware of your surroundings and the people around you,” he said. “Planning for hazards, reducing risk and using stop work authority when needed helps ensure everyone gets home safely.” He added that safety is a shared responsibility and that Bowman has “built a culture that truly values its employees.”
Frank views safety as part of everyday life. “Safety applies to everything we do, from home to the office and everywhere in between,” he said. In challenging situations, he prefers to slow down and reassess. “Overconfidence can be dangerous,” Frank noted. His advice is simple: “Take care of yourself first so you can take care of others.”
Congratulations to Joe and Frank for reinforcing that safety is paramount. Together, we continue to uphold our shared commitment: Safety Gets Me Home.
