The Bronx Museum of the Arts is an internationally recognized American cultural institution that has played a vital role in its surrounding community since its founding in 1971. In early 2016, the museum announced plans to overhaul parts of its Grand Concourse facility to allow for more space and new exhibitions.
Monica Ponce de Leon, National Design Award winner and founder of MPdL Studio, was selected to lead the $25 million redesign. Recognizing that any successful project begins with accurate as-built plans, MPdL turned to our team for help.
Process
Our 3D laser scanning team quickly mobilized, developing a plan to capture all the necessary field data, including key areas of the concourse and the entire exterior of the building. The field scanning process was seamlessly executed within one day and went virtually unnoticed by museum patrons who went to observe the 20th and 21st century art collections.
Result
Once the point cloud data was generated, our drafting team created detailed drawings to MPdL Studio’s exact specifications. The entire process, from laser scanning to the delivery of as-built AutoCAD documentation, was completed in just two weeks and served as the foundation for the museum’s
