Clemson University constructed a new football operations facility attached to the existing indoor practice facility. The new, approximately 142,500 sq. ft. facility includes coaches’ offices; team meeting rooms; recruiting areas; locker rooms for students, athletes, and coaches; a weight room; a training room; a hydro-therapy area; an equipment room; dining areas; and associated support spaces.
Due to the proposed building’s size and construction type, a performance-based design was applied to allow for the use of a two-story, unlimited-area facility with an A-3 occupancy. Clemson University retained our team to perform an independent, third-party review of the performance-based design analysis. The team also assisted Clemson University with gaining the South Carolina Office of the State Engineer’s acceptance of the performance-based design.
