Retained by the Town of Walpole to design intersection and roadway improvements on Coney Street and to prepare construction documents for bidding. The primary goal of the project was to provide vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle improvements along Coney Street, using a MassWorks funding grant.
Phase I: The project was designed utilizing the latest MassDOT standards and project coordination with MassDOT District 5. The team’s design consisted of approximately 2,000 ft of roadway improvements that included drainage/stormwater improvements (bio-retention dry swale and leaching catch basins), sewer infrastructure improvements, sidewalk reconstruction and driveway modifications. In addition, McMahon obtained a permit to modify the Town’s drainage system that connects into the State’s Route 1 drainage system. We also provided intersection signalization and traffic signal coordination.
Phase II: The same team was further retained to design intersection and roadway improvements along Coney Street and Boston Providence Highway (Route 1). These improvements included a lane extension, roadway widening, drainage, sewer, signal modifications, replacement of sidewalks, and resurfacing of the Coney Street and Route 1 intersection.
Throughout both the project phases, the team conducted multiple meetings with Town and state officials and project stakeholders. McMahon provided construction observations with daily field reports.
