Distribution Automation Engineering

California

This program provides comprehensive engineering support for Distribution Volt/VAR Control (DVVC) implementation and ongoing system maintenance, with an emphasis on grid modernization and reliability improvements. A key component of the work includes dashboard management, ensuring operators have accurate, real-time data to monitor performance and guide decision-making.

Our team supports a wide range of distribution engineering initiatives, beginning with capital project scoping for both DVVC-specific upgrades and broader grid improvement efforts. Responsibilities include distribution automation engineering support, infrastructure replacement planning and cable and conductor inventory management, ensuring that assets are effectively maintained and upgraded as system demands evolve.

Additional program activities include implementing and maintaining tie device restoration logic, supporting programmable capacitor control and conducting generation interconnection studies and application processing to enable seamless integration of distributed energy resources. The program also manages cable and conductor replacement projects, improving overall system resiliency and reducing the risk of outages.

Beyond DVVC implementation, the team contributes to broader grid modernization planning efforts, including branch line fuse scoping and worst-circuit rehabilitation capital projects.
