Ellsworth Road is a major arterial thoroughfare that connects the Town of Queen Creek to the southeast valley. Bowman was contracted to design the west half of the road to the town’s typical Arterial Street Cross Section and provide the civil design, sewer, water, construction survey and the noise and vibration studies. The road improvements consist of 3 southbound lanes, a 6-foot bike lane and a 12 foot wide two way turn lane. The improvements consist of vertical curb and gutter, sidewalk, traffic signal coordination, catch basins and associated storm drains to connect to underground retention tanks. This widening necessitated close coordination with the adjacent community irrigation board to relocate a critical section of their facilities. Due to the location of the existing well, the roadway also needed to be realigned to avoid conflict. In addition to working with the irrigation board, Bowman also addressed the resident’s concerns regarding an increase in noise by supplying a detailed sound study with future noise level forecasts. Bowman supplied construction documents to replace the undersized water infrastructure with a new 12-inch water line. Bowman also provided the construction staking for the project.
