Bowman is the lead consultant for the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) first corridor management contract, providing comprehensive program leadership and construction corridor management for the reconstruction of the I-80 corridor from east of Ridge Road to US 30.
This transformative, $1.3B, 16-mile infrastructure program is modernizing a corridor that is more than 50 years old, rehabilitating more than 30 bridges and improving safety and mobility through reconstructed interchanges, auxiliary lanes and operational enhancements. Traversing the City of Joliet and Will County, the corridor carries approximately 80,000 vehicles daily and is one of the region’s most critical transportation facilities.
As corridor manager, Bowman provides strategic leadership to integrate multiple construction contracts into a single, coordinated program. Through proactive decision-making, project controls and continuous collaboration with IDOT, local agencies, first responders, designers, contractors, utilities, railroads and construction managers, Bowman has helped keep this complex, multi-phase program on schedule and under budget while minimizing impacts to the traveling public.
Bowman’s key services include:
- Providing overall program management and coordination of existing and future Phase III construction engineering services contracts across the corridor.
- Performing constructability reviews of design packages to improve quality, reduce construction risks and enhance contract bid readiness.
- Evaluating design packaging, contract packaging and procurement strategies to optimize project delivery and sequencing.
- Monitoring and managing the integrated corridor schedule to identify risks, resolve conflicts and maintain critical milestones across multiple concurrent contracts.
