As part of an ongoing five-year partnership, our team provided data center and critical operations consulting, serving as a liaison between the client’s real estate team, IT operations group and third-party facility operators. We conducted reliability and risk reviews, evaluated both capital and operational expenditures and delivered designs that enhanced reliability and operational efficiency. Working closely with three distinct stakeholder groups within a data center environment requires both technical insight and clear communication. The team not only delivered engineering services but also translated complex operational systems into accessible procedures, terms and risk profiles.
Our team designed and implemented a live UPS replacement and chiller upgrade with zero downtime. Two aging 900kW rotary UPS units were replaced with modern static UPS systems, supported by a carefully phased distribution strategy that allowed for uninterrupted power while upgrading PDUs and RPPs. The high-efficiency UPS units delivered significant operational savings and reduced heat load, achieving a payback period of under three years. The new chiller system added both redundancy and energy efficiency.
The team also delivered a high-efficiency computer room cooling upgrade for a 15,000 SF operational data center in Europe. The design introduced a pumped refrigerant CRAC system—new to the region—along with CFD modeling and an advanced control strategy. These upgrades resulted in a 2.5-year payback and long-term operational savings.
