Serving as the owner’s IT project manager, our team acted as the eyes and ears of Mass General Brigham’s internal IT and engineering divisions on a new clinical facility for Massachusetts General Hospital. The team ensured that all low voltage infrastructure was properly designed and fully coordinated across disciplines to support this mission critical healthcare environment.
The facility houses inpatient and outpatient clinical spaces, support service areas, environments designed to enhance both staff and patient experiences, and an underground parking structure.
Working in tandem with the architectural and engineering design team, the team was responsible for reviewing system designs to confirm alignment with best practices and applicable standards. Detailed reporting and budget tracking were central to the project’s success. Weekly meetings between our team and Mass General Brigham provided opportunities to monitor progress, address procurement challenges and resolve issues related to IT system operations and installation.
A forward-looking technology strategy was at the core of the effort. Special care was taken to implement the most advanced systems available today while allowing flexibility to adapt to future innovations. These systems were vital to enabling seamless communication and data sharing across departments, between buildings and with the hospital’s external network of physicians and research institutions.
