Bowman provided Phase II engineering design of a two-span steel through girder railroad bridge. The project included modifications to the geometry and configuration of the Metra Southwest Service Line Bridge including raising the bridge profile.
The scope of services included the removal and replacement of the railroad bridge over US 45 and a separate pedestrian bridge adjacent to the existing Metra/Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge over US 45. This contract also included retaining walls and decorative lighting design for multi-use path and underpass lighting, and miscellaneous site civil and electrical work to relocate existing utilities. The retaining walls included a new 530′ long cantilever retaining wall with a retained height of 17′ along a pedestrian path and a 70′ long cantilever wingwall with a retained height of 23′ parallel to US Route 45.
