Redondo Fishing Pier

Des Moines, WA

Bowman is providing design and construction management services to the City of
Des Moines for the reconstruction of the Redondo Fishing Pier and associated public
amenities. Originally constructed in 1980, the existing pier was closed in 2019 due to
safety concerns and is now being completely rebuilt to meet modern structural and
public use standards.

The new restroom facility, constructed on the opposite side of the adjacent roadway,
replaced the original structure near the pier, which was subsequently demolished.
Bowman provided full design services for the facility and led construction
management efforts from August 2024 through May 2025. The completed restroom
structure improves accessibility and convenience for pier visitors and the broader
community.

With the restroom facility completed, Bowman will continue in its construction
management role providing resident engineering, documentation control, inspection
and engineer of record services, overseeing the fishing pier’s full reconstruction.
Bowman’s involvement across both projects ensures consistency in design execution,
construction oversight and quality control. This phased approach allows the city to
manage costs effectively while delivering infrastructure upgrades that enhance the
public waterfront experience.

The rebuilt fishing pier is expected to be completed in the spring of 2026.
