Our team provided marine engineering services for the construction of Spruce Street Harbor Park at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia, PA. We provided mooring analysis, preliminary and final marine structural analysis and design, permitting and construction inspection services for this project.
We coordinated with the client and the architect to bring their conceptualized idea to fruition with practical engineering practices. We designed mooring of three barges in a “U” shape configuration, as well as barge spud wells and piles to moor the barges. Steel framing to support the hammocks was also designed. Our team studied the utilization of gangways during tide fluctuations and determined the tidal envelope for gangway use. We designed gangway supports and transition plates between barges to accommodate relative movement between various barges and land.
