South Whitehall Transportation Plan Named MASITE Project of the Year

September 26, 2025

Bowman’s South Whitehall Transportation Plan has been recognized with the 2025 Project of the Year Award in the Planning category by the Mid-Atlantic Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (MASITE). The award honors projects that apply innovative methods and effective solutions to address transportation challenges while delivering meaningful benefits to the communities they serve.

Developed in partnership with South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania, the Transportation Plan: A Safe Systems Approach at the Intersection of Safety and Active Transportation grew from the township’s focus on transportation safety, active transportation and congestion management. The effort combined data-driven analysis, stakeholder collaboration and public engagement to help shape the future of the township’s transportation network.

Throughout 2024, Bowman worked alongside township staff and a project steering committee to complete phase I of the project. The adopted plan establishes a framework to guide future transportation capital improvements, policy updates and programs while identifying opportunities to improve safety and mobility for all users of the transportation system.
