Shippeetown Road Overheight Vehicle Detection System

Bowman partnered with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) to design and implement Rhode Island’s first overheight vehicle detection system (OVDS). No such system had been deployed on a Rhode Island freeway before, so the design had to function reliably at interstate speeds and volume.

Today Show Garden

Bowman managed the design and development plans for the Today Show Garden, created in partnership with the National Gardening Association and KidsGardening.org to support the nationwide Garden in Every School Program initiative. The project transformed an existing basketball court into a universally accessible outdoor garden and plant-based learning center for school-age users.

Middlebury College Johnson Hall ADA Accessibility Improvements

Bowman provided engineering design and landscape architecture services for Middlebury College’s redesign of the pedestrian entry at Johnson Hall. Originally constructed in a Brutalist architectural style, the building’s entrance did not meet ADA accessibility standards. Working collaboratively with the project architect, Bowman developed a new, fully accessible entry route that eliminates all stairs and creates an inclusive pathway for all users.

Randolph Child Care Facility

The work encompassed all phases of the project, including early concept plans and schematic design, through design development, various permit approvals, construction drawings and construction administration.

Parc Terrace

Bowman provided civil engineering, survey and permitting services for the mixed-use development. The project included a 60-by-200-ft residential building with 50 to 60 apartments, 8,000 sq. ft. of commercial space and structured and surface parking for approximately 80 vehicles.

Escambia County ADA Compliance Study

Greater Burlington YMCA

Bowman provided permitting support services, urban design and construction drawings for the entire site of the Greater Burlington Vermont YMCA with a focus on aesthetics and ADA accessibility. Scope includes entry plaza, outdoor seating, bicycle parking, granite retaining walls, fencing, stairways, site landscape, lighting, and specialty detailing work.
