Loudoun County Public Schools retained Bowman for the construction of 4,800 sq. ft. 3-classroom additions to 6 existing elementary schools. Each school addition was a separate site plan design and application process including geometric layout, grading, roof drain design, analysis of the existing SWM/BMP system, erosion & sediment control measures, and coordination with the architect. Each school also had its own grading permit prepared and processed through Loudoun County. The construction of the additions was done as one construction management – at risk project. Full construction documentation and specifications were prepared and coordinated throughout the CMAR process. Bowman provided construction administration services including RFI responses, change order review, review of pay applications and construction schedules, and full inspection/punch list at completion. Task order challenges included the expeditious gathering of field survey data for six different school locations. Bowman supplemented field survey information for base site plan information, along with the coordination of various disciplines necessary for plan preparation. The site plan amendments (SPAM) were pursued for local jurisdictional review for each of the six elementary schools. Architectural prototypes for the additions were used in our plan preparation for approval in a shorter timeframe using the SPAM process. Construction occurred along with administration services provided by Bowman while schools remained fully occupied during the school year and built concurrently.
