Built in 1910, the Four Roses Distillery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features a unique Spanish-Mission-style architecture rarely seen in Kentucky.
In 2015, a $34M expansion project was initiated to modernize the facility and increase production capacity by 50%. The expansion included the installation of 25 new fermenters, various equipment upgrades and the construction of 2 new buildings, including a new visitors’ center.
To ensure the seamless integration of modern elements into the historic facility, Bowman provided 3-D laser scanning, planning and zoning expertise, landscape architecture, survey, site civil engineering, structural engineering and comprehensive construction administration/observation services. An extensive phasing plan was also developed and meticulously executed to allow daily operations to continue uninterrupted.
Supported by Bowman’s modernization and expansion efforts, the Four Roses Distillery not only boosted its production capabilities but also continued to pay homage to its rich history—making it a true testament to heritage and innovation.
Joseph & Joseph Architects designed the original building and was selected for the 2015 distillery expansion.
