Following flood damage near Elbe, Washington, our team assessed and designed the replacement of the Nisqually River Trestle on Tacoma Rail’s Mountain Division Line. We evaluated multiple bridge alternatives, selecting a two-span steel plate girder bridge for optimal performance, cost-efficiency, and environmental compliance, ensuring a resilient and sustainable rail connection.

Los Angeles County MTA Purple Line Extension

Our team served as Engineer of Record for LA Metro’s Westside Purple Line Extension, designing Century City/Constellation Station and reviewing plans for Wilshire/Rodeo Station. The project demanded advanced soil-structure interaction, 3D modeling, and excavation support to ensure stability beneath densely developed areas along Wilshire Boulevard, factoring in seismic resilience and loading impacts from nearby high-rise buildings in this urban infrastructure initiative.

On-Call GEC for Bus System Infrastructure Improvements

Bowman was engaged by the MBTA for a four-year, $7M contract to plan, design and construct a wide range of bus system infrastructure projects to further upgrade and enhance bus system accessibility, safety, state of good repair, service reliability, travel times, and system wide expansion.

San Gabriel River Commuter Bikeway Project

This project involved engineering design services for a 2.5-mile class I bicycle and pedestrian path. The entire project is built on rights-of-way controlled by the city, Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, Los Angeles County Flood Control District and Caltrans.

Burlington North Santa Fe Railroad

Inman Square Intersection Safety Improvements

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the team led the transportation analysis and design for the intersection safety improvements project. The team developed solutions to address the size and complexity of the intersection, which was challenging for bicyclists and drivers, while pedestrians faced long delays waiting to safely cross.

West Palm Beach Bike Master Plan

The Citywide Bicycle Master Plan for the City of West Palm Beach included an extensive public outreach process and agency coordination. The master plan provides a guide to the city regarding bicycle corridors, ultimate bicycle facilities and appropriate treatments to elevate the city that requires minimal motorized transportation.

Efforts included an extensive inventory of existing bicycle and pedestrian facilities, literature research, a needs assessment, agency coordination, and a robust public outreach process.
