Central Tri-State Tollway Improvements

Bowman was responsible for Phase I and Phase II design for the Open Road Tolling Program, roadway widening, bridge widening, and toll and interchange ramp modifications on the I-294 tollway. Bowman worked closely with Illinois Tollway during Phase I and Phase II.

Lake Shore Drive Viaducts

Bowman provided Phase II design services for the replacement of the Lake Shore Drive (US 41) Viaducts over Lawrence Avenue and Wilson Avenue. Both roadways will be reconstructed to provide minimum vertical clearance under US 41 as well as a new typical section to accommodate shared bicycle lanes.

Route 229

Bowman provided project management of the right-of-way and easement acquisition efforts and negotiations for 51 parcels to widen Route 229’s existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway and provide curb and gutter, sidewalk, and a 10-foot shared-use path.

Route 460 Corridor Improvement Project

This VDOT project includes construction of 55 miles of four-lane divided limited access highway. The project will be tolled with funds used to pay for project costs. The project also includes design of intermediate interchanges at four major crossroads. The project made it to 15% before getting canceled by VDOT.

Woodland Road Reconstruction

This two phase road reconstruction project involved approximately 6,600 lf of linear frontage. Bowman provided is planning and civil design services to analyze and redesign over a mile of public road infrastructure. The team also designed an expansion of the area to include bike lanes, new sidewalk, and drainage improvements.

VDOT Route 29, Berkmar Drive Extension

The project consisted of establishing secondary control for survey work, performing field run topographic/planimetric surveys on approximately 80-acres, annotating the existing photogrammetry, property corner recovery and location, and storm sewer/drainage as-built preparation and delivery in accordance with VDOT standards.

Terminal 5 – M Fuel Extension Fuel Package at O’Hare Airport

Safer Access Road Mapping

Bowman worked closely with our client to deliver detailed laser mapping serviced with our unmanned surveying drone. The project site was a multi-mile thoroughfare of extreme terrain that is mostly inaccessible by traditional survey techniques. Additionally, the client was about to utilize drone footage for a company-wide marketing campaign about site operations.

Tri-State Tollway (I-294) Reconstruction, Mile Long Bridge

The Mile Long Bridge is a critical piece of infrastructure to the Central Tri-State Tollway (I-294) corridor as it carries drivers over two major railroads, three water sources and local roads, and over a major distribution center for UPS and Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway. Bowman is providing Phase III construction management services for this multi-year project.

VDOT Route 123

Bowman is providing structural and right-of-way services for this new interchange that will build Route 123 over Route 1 to separate through traffic, and connect Route 123 to Belmont Bay Drive east of the railroad. Both Routes will be widened from four to six lanes.
