Bowman performed sub-bottom profiling at Olcott Harbor in Lake Ontario. We ran approximately 48,000 transects of varying lengths using a full-spectrum sub-bottom profiler, towing an EdgeTech sub-bottom profiler alongside Bowman’s survey vessel.

Bowman performed a multidisciplinary mapping and sediment characterization study at Lock CS-1 at the northern end of Cayuga Lake. to support the design of a recreational surface-water feature associated with the Reimagine the Canals Initiative.
Bowman performs semi-annual bathymetric monitoring of Barton Mines’ Upper Pond in North Creek, NY, to evaluate sediment and slime accumulation and changes in pond conditions over time. This ongoing comparison gives Barton Mines ongoing pond maintenance and long-term sediment management planning.
Bowman performed bathymetric surveys of three drinking-water reservoirs in Port Jervis, NY, to establish existing bottom conditions and calculate current water-storage capacities. We also developed recommendations for future safe-yield analysis, including long-term reservoir water-level monitoring and collection of supporting water-supply data.
Bowman performed acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) surveys along mapped fault regions of the Hudson River to evaluate water-column velocity and flow direction associated with suspected losing sections of the river.
Bowman conducted a hydrographic survey utilizing multibeam echo sounding and side scan sonar technologies along cells one through 19 of the wharf’s cellular wall face. The survey aimed to validate recent structural repairs, identify any remaining defects and support the creation of as-built documentation.
Bowman has supported PhilaPort for 14 years across 40+ projects, including strategic planning, facility condition assessments, feasibility studies, capital project development, permitting and construction-phase support within an active port and across a diverse, multi-terminal capital program.
Our team was hired to perform a combined multi-beam side scanning sonar and LiDAR investigation to produce 3-D digital model of the vertical surface of the Troy seawall above and below the water surface. This continuous model produced a high resolution “picture” of the wall.
Bowman provided dual mapping data as part of the flood warning and optimization system in addition to maintenance and inspection contracts statewide. The team was contracted to provide bank-to-bank bathymetric mapping and simultaneous LiDAR data collection of the Mohawk River between Locks E8 and E7 to support flood modeling activities.
Partnered with Weeks Marine, our team provided multiple roles and services for this project. We acted as the geologist of record and provided construction material inspection and oversite services at the breakwater materials extraction source (Carver Johnstown Quarry).
